The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation have released a DVD featuring highlights of the late Sir Bobby’s 80th birthday celebration at The Sage.
‘Another (K)Night to Remember’, features live performances from Russell Watson, Lindisfarne, Joe McElderry and teenage opera star Faryl Smith, as well as a moving interview from Paul Gascoigne.
A star-studded guest list attended the event, which raised £80,000 for the Alan Shearer Foundation and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
Sir Bobby Robson died in July 2009, aged 76. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, the charity the former England and Newcastle manager set up in 2008, has so far raised more than £5.2 million to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer.
Sir Bobby Robson’s widow, Lady Elsie Robson, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the celebration of Bob’s birthday. It was a wonderful night and we were surrounded by friends and well-wishers. Bob would have been in his element.
“It was just so special to have gathered together such a wonderful line-up of performers and football people. And to have raised so much money for charity too, really I’m just blown away.
“It says a lot about the commitment of everyone involved in the organisation of the night, the generosity of the sponsors Virgin Money and the people who gave up time to appear, that it all ran so smoothly.
“People are still talking about it now and I’m sure the DVD will be very popular.”
